Junior Associate of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (JAIIB)


Objectives

JAIIB aims at providing required level of basic knowledge in banking and financial services (BFS), banking technology, customer relations, basic accountancy and legal aspects necessary for carrying out day to day banking operations.



Eligibility

  1. The exam is open only to the ordinary members of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) (Any person working in the banking and finance industry whose employer is an Institutional member of the Institute can apply for membership, for details visit IIBF website)
  2. Minimum qualification - Higher Secondary (12th Grade)
  3. IIBF may allow candidates below 12th standard, with recommendation of Branch Manager, to apply for JAIIB.

Registration Fees

  • 01.09.2020 to 07.09.2020 - Examination Fees as below
  • 08.09.2020 to 21.09.2020 - Examination Fees as below + Rs. 100/-
  • 22.09.2020 to 30.09.2020 - Examination Fees as below + Rs. 200/-



Examination Fees
  • First Attempt Fee - Rs. 2700/- + GST
  • Second Attempt Fee - Rs. 1300/- + GST
  • Third Attempt Fee - Rs. 1300/- + GST
  • Fourth Attempt Fee - Rs. 1300/- + GST


Medium of Exam
  • Either Hindi or English, and should clearly mention in application form


Pattern of Exam
  1. Each Question Paper will contain approx. 120 objective type MCQ, carrying 100 marks, including questions based on case study / case lets. The Institute may, however, vary the number of questions to be asked for a subject. There will be No Negative marking for wrong answers.
  2. Questions for the JAIIB exam will be asked calling for - (a) Knowledge testing, (b) Conceptual grasp, (c) Analytical / logical exposition, (d) Problem Solving, (e) Case analysis, etc.


Mode, Duration and Periodicity of Exam
  1. Mode - Online mode only
  2. Duration - 2 hours each paper
  3. Periodicity - Examination will be conducted on pre-announced dates published on IIBF Web Site. Institute conducts examination on half yearly basis, however periodicity of the examination may be changed depending upon the requirement of banking industry


Passing Criteria
  1. Pass - Minimum 50 out of 100 marks in each subject.
  2. Candidates securing at least 45 marks in each subject with an aggregate of 50 % marks in all subjects in a single attempt will also be declared as having passed JAIIB examination.


Time Limit for Passing Exam
  1. Candidates will be required to pass JAIIB exam within a time limit of 2 years (i.e., 4 consecutive attempts).
  2. Candidates not able to pass JAIIB exam within the stipulated time period of 2 years are required to re-enroll themselves afresh by submitting fresh Exam Application Form. Such candidates will not be granted credit/s for subject/s passed, if any, earlier.
  3. Attempts will be counted from the date of application irrespective of whether a candidate appears at any examination or otherwise.
  4. Candidates are required to Register for every attempt separately.


"Class of Pass" Criteria
  1. The Institute will consider the FIRST PHYSICAL ATTEMPT of the candidates at the exam as first attempt for awarding class. In other words, the candidate should not have attempted any of the subject/s pertaining to the concerned exam any time in the past and has to pass all the subjects as per the passing criteria and secure prescribed marks for awarding class. Candidate re-enrolling for the exam after exhausting all permissible attempts as per the time limit rule will not be considered for awarding class.
  2. FIRST CLASS - 60 % or more marks in aggregate and pass in all the subjects in the FIRST PHYSICAL ATTEMPT
  3. FIRST CLASS WITH DISTINCTION - 70 % or more marks in aggregate and 60 or more marks in each subject in the FIRST PHYSICAL ATTEMPT

Monetary Benefits - 
  1. JAIIB for Clerks - 1 increment in salary
  2. JAIIB for Officers - 1 increment in salary
  3. CAIIB for Clerks - 2 increments in salary (have to pass JAIIB first)
  4. CAIIB for Officers - 1 increment in salary (have to pass JAIIB first)

For example - Bank Officer Scale-I Salary structure (Xth Bipartite)
Rs. 23,700 - (980 x 7) - 30,560 - (1145 x 2) - 32,850 - (1310 x 7) - 42020

If Mr. X (Bank Officer Scale - I) has basic pay of Rs. 23,700/-, then after passing JAIIB exam, he will get 1 increment, meaning his new basic pay will be Rs. 23,700 + 980 = Rs. 24,680/-


For example - Bank Clerk Salary structure (Xth Bipartite)
Rs. 11,765 - (655 x 3) - 13,730 - (815 x 3) - 16,175 - (980 x 4) - 20,095 - (1145 x 7) - 28,110 - (2120 x 1) - 30,230 - (1310 x 1) - 31,542 (20 years)

If Mr. Y (Bank Clerk) has basic pay of Rs. 11,765/-, then after passing JAIIB exam, he will get 1 increment, meaning his new basic pay will be Rs. 11,765 + 655 = Rs. 12,420/-


For example - Bank Sub-staff Salary structure (Xth Bipartite)
Rs. 9,560 - (325 x 4) - 10,860 - (410 x 5) - 12,910 - (490 x 4) - 14,870 - (570 x 3) - 16,580 - (655 x 3) - 18,545 (20 years)

If Mr. Z (Bank Sub-staff) has basic pay of Rs. 9,560/-, then after passing JAIIB exam, he will get 1 increment, meaning his new basic pay will be Rs. 9,560 + 325 = Rs. 9,885/-
